Are you seeking a more reliable solution than dentures or bridges to replace missing teeth? If so, you might be a good candidate for dental implants. Unlike the alternatives, these restorations are placed directly in your jawbone, allowing them to provide unique advantages, such as increased strength and stability.

However, if you’re missing a tooth in the front of your mouth, you might worry that a dental implant isn’t a feasible option. Continue reading to learn why you can safely set your concerns aside!

How Do Dental Implants Work?

Although potentially anyone missing teeth can benefit from getting dental implants, that doesn’t mean they’re the best solution to meet everyone’s unique needs. Before proceeding, you must consult your provider to ensure you’re a good candidate. They’ll examine your mouth and treat any pre-existing issues, like tooth decay or gum disease, that might interfere with the results. They’ll also measure your jawbone to ensure it’s dense enough to support your restoration.

Then, for the procedure itself,  you’ll be numbed and/or sedated to help you feel comfortable before your provider creates a small incision in your gums. Next, they’ll carefully place the support rod of your implant and suture the wound closed. It can take several months to recover, because your mouth must produce enough new jawbone growth to fuse with this pole, making it a more permanent part of your mouth.

Do Dental Implants Look Natural?

Once you’ve mended sufficiently, your dentist will schedule an appointment to make impressions of your mouth that will be used to design your customized restoration, such as a dental crown, to close the space in your smile. Your new tooth is usually made from resilient ceramic that is strong enough to withstand the pressure of daily biting and chewing, and can potentially last 15+ years if cared for correctly.

Not only that, but the material it’s made from is customizable and can be designed to match the color, shape, and size of your natural enamel for seamless results.

Can Dental Implants Replace My Front Teeth?

Dental implants are renowned for being incredibly durable, but many patients worry that they’ll stick out like a sore thumb. If you’re concerned it won’t look or feel like your natural teeth, you might be afraid to replace a missing tooth in the front of your mouth because it’s so easily noticeable. Fortunately, these restorations can be an ideal way to rebuild your smile regardless of where they’re located in your mouth.

Whether you’re replacing a missing molar or a more visible tooth, like an incisor, your provider can rebuild your grin’s appearance and functionality with a lifelike dental implant.
